  • 1960's

    Where it all began...

    In 1968 Gerald Latham formed a partnership with one of the North-West's leading plant and haulage contractors, Terence Armstrong, to establish P.G.Latham& Co, specialising in repairs to contractors' plant and fork lift trucks.

  • 1970's

    Going Mobile...

    In the 1970's, PG Latham followed the lifting equipment industry trend of manufacturing specialist attachments to meet the needs of the diverse nature of materials handling.
    This resulted in P G Latham & Co Ltd becoming involved in the repair, manufacturing and modification of these attachments. P G Latham & Co Ltd achieved this by using a workshop base and offering an on-site fabrication service.

  • 1980's

    Time to Expand...

    The early 1980's saw a need for expansion, resulting in a move to our existing premises at Pagefield Industrial Estate, Miry Lane, Wigan. The three workshops and offices now total 35,000 sq.ft.

    Throughout the 1980's the company concentrated its development of the machining facilities, opening a 5,000 sq.ft. machine and press shop.

  • 1990's

    Testing Times...

    After achieving the BS5750 quality accreditation in 1991, the company invested heavily in state of the art inspection and testing equipment and in 1997 opened our inspection and testing plant to comply with BS EN ISO 9002:1994 quality standard.

  • 2000's

    The Special Years...

    In the late Nineties and into the new Millenium, PG Latham & Co Ltd began fabricating bespoke fork arms for companies such as TVH, Kenhar, Moffett Mounty, S.D. Engineering and Northfork.
    Also, due to improvements in the construction industry's health and safety standards, PG Latham & Co Ltd expanded into the repairing and testing of construction site lifting equipment such as tele-handlers, excavators and loaders.

  • 2010's

    Pressing Forward...

    The past few years have seen us develop even further starting with the opening of our specialist press shop in 2010, giving us the ability to press up to 600 tonnes. Also, we have recently introduced line boring and thermal lancing to our services together with achieving Safe Contractors accreditation.
